Kenny Pickett Quarterback
Quarterback Kenny Pickett is the future of professional football in Pittsburgh, at least that’s what Steelers fans are hoping.
Selected with the 20th pick in the 1st Round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Pickett was a local star out of the University of Pittsburgh. He had an outstanding senior season with the Panthers. Throwing for 4,319 yards and 42 touchdowns, all while completing 67.2% of his throws.
He made his NFL debut during the 2nd half of a week 4 game against the New York Jets after starter Mitch Trubisky was benched. Although the Steelers would lose this game, Pickett would end up going 7-5 during the remainder of the season.

Currently one of the least expensive rookie cards in the market. The 2022 Panini Prestige #301 card is ideal for collectors who just want to get their hands on a cheap Pickett rookie card as soon as possible.
The card’s front displays an impressive in-game action shot of Pickett throwing a pass from the pocket on top of a dark, faded-out background.
The top left of the card lists “Prestige 2022” and the bottom right lists Pickett’s name, both in silver font. The top right of the card lists Pickett’s position and the traditional “RC” graphic signifying the card’s rookie status. While the bottom left of the card displays the Steelers team logo.

The card contains a white, outer border, and a yellow, inner border that directly outlines a photo of Pickett holding the ball in the pocket during practice.
The top left of the card displays the Score brand name, while the top right of the card lists the traditional “RC” graphic noting that the card is a rookie.
The bottom of the card contains a black and yellow banner/strip. On top of which is a separate, white strip displaying the Steelers logo on the left and Pickett’s name on the right. Pickett’s position is listed just above his name on the black and yellow banner/strip.
The rear of the card lists Pickett’s collegiate stats and a brief player summary detailing why Pickett decided to return to college for his senior season.

As it is, the card employs a unique frontal design that makes it an attractive option for budget collectors.
Unlike many other sports cards, the borders on this card are curved and irregular. Resulting in the main body of the card possessing an off-centered square shape with rounded corners. The player photo pictures Pickett throwing a pass during a college game with part of a college crowd and a Tennessee Volunteers defender in the background.
The top left of the card displays an “RC” for rookie card on a curved white border/background, the top right of the card lists “Select Draft Picks ’22” on a black border/background, and the bottom left of the card contains Pickett’s name and team on a black border/background as well.

The Steelers team name is listed on a small white strip near the bottom left of the card. Most of the mustard yellow color scheme is contained at the top left corner, far right side, and the bottom center/right of the card.
In addition to listing his collegiate stats. The rear of the card lists a brief scouting report of Pickett’s abilities.

Containing arguably the best overall design among all Kenny Pickett rookie cards, the Panini Select Draft Picks Color Wheel card is right on the border of budget/high-end cards.
The price in PSA 10 condition has gradually come down a little in overall sales according to sportscardspro.com. Although there have only been 3 recorded sales in this condition so far.
The card has a black background with a beautiful color wheel placed on top, covering almost all of the card’s center portion.
The color wheel includes different shades of blue, green, purple, pink, red, violet, and yellow. The photo of Pickett, which is placed in the middle of the color wheel, covers most of the card’s front from top to bottom and pictures him running in the pocket.
The top left of the card contains the phrase “Select Draft Picks ’22” and the bottom right of the card lists Pickett’s name and team.
The rear of the card contains a player summary detailing Pickett’s first collegiate start where he helped lead Pittsburgh to a stunning upset of #2 Miami.
When I was just starting out with my card collection, I had lots of questions about authenticity, trading, and card conditions. But with not that much information available online, I felt quite alone in my queries. Some questions still haven’t been answered to this day.
