As the sports memorabilia market continues to flourish. Baseball cards are regaining their place in the hearts of many Americans who have rekindled their passion for baseball card collecting.
Normally a hobby associated with teens and adolescents. The 21st century has seen individuals of all ages get into the fray, as both vintage cards and specialty cards dominate the marketplace.
Fernando Tatis Jr. is one of the most popular baseball players in MLB. Cards with his likeness are some of the most sought-after in the market.
Below are 8 Fernando Tatis Jr. cards that all collectors should add to their wish list. As well as some extra memorabilia items.
8. 2015 Panini Elite Extra Edition Prospect Signature Red Ink #175

The 2015 Panini Elite Extra Edition Prospect series was the first set to include Fernando Tatis Jr. Making the autographed version of the #175 card a must-have for any serious collector.
The card showcases a picture of a very young Tatis Jr. swinging the bat in a minor league game on the front of the card. With his signature and name listed underneath the picture.
The card has a very unique red and purple color scheme on its front background. While the back of the card employs a more traditional white, black, and gray design.
The back of the card does not list any minor league statistics. This is because the card was printed early enough that Tatis Jr. hadn’t compiled any stats yet. It does contain some bio information, while also noting that Tatis Jr.’s father was a major league baseball player.
The overall price of this card is somewhat difficult to determine because so few have been sold in the market. While those that are currently listed on eBay have a massive variance in price.
7. 2019 Topps Chrome Rookie Autographs #RA-FT

The 2019 Topps Chrome Rookie Autographs card is a high-end card that has seen much action in the marketplace over the last year.
With 30 confirmed sales of this card in PSA 10 condition since June 2021 according to sportscardpro.com. This card is one of the most easily accessible high-end Tatis Jr. cards.
It presents a great investment opportunity for collectors on a budget. This is because the price has come down due to Tatis Jr.’s absence from play during the 2022 season.
The card had originally been selling for around $2000. But can probably be purchased at about half that price in today’s market.
The card pictures Tatis Jr. about to swing the bat. With his signature and name listed on the bottom left of the card’s front.
The bottom right of the card’s front contains the Padres logo. While the back of the card lists Tatis Jr.’s 2018 minor league information as well as a compilation of his stat totals from 3-years in the minor leagues.
6. 2019 Panini Immaculate Collection RPA #F-FT

The 2019 Panini Immaculate Collection RPA #F-FT card is the rarest card on this list. With only 2 confirmed cards of this type currently selling on eBay.
Because neither card is at least a PSA 9 or 10 grade and is not listed on sportscardspro.com or psacard.com. Determining a price is a little tricky. However, the prices listed above are generally what RPA cards of star professional athletes on the level of Tatis Jr. generally sell for.
The card employs a horizontal design. With five separate patches, 3 smaller on top and 2 larger below them, taking up most of the card’s front.

One nice characteristic of this card is that the back of it lists some bio information and minor league facts surrounding his play. Something that many relic cards do not typically contain.
5. 2019 Topps Chrome Rookie Card Sapphire #410

From a historical perspective, the Topps Chrome #410 rookie card will probably end up being the most iconic Fernando Tatis Jr. rookie card.
The card was one of the most anticipated rookie cards of the decade. It features a great action shot of Tatis Jr. throwing the baseball from a fielding position instead of the standard at-bat pose. Due to the nature of the action shot, the front of the card and its corresponding photo are presented in a horizontal format.
Although the base version is a solid card in its own right. The most value, as with any modern sports card, is in the parallel card versions.
The Topps Chrome #410 Sapphire version of the base card is one of the most valuable versions. Surpassing in value even that of the gold refractor version of the card.
The front of the card contains a beautiful shiny, jeweled background, with Tatis Jr.’s name in the bottom left and the Padres team name and logo in the bottom right.
The back of the card lists his minor league stats and some bio information in Topps’ typical baseball layout.
4. 2019 Topps Heritage Rookie Card Black Refractor #517

Mimicking the classic 1970 Topps baseball set design. The 2019 Heritage rookie card is a unique, retro-style card that is a perfect contrast to any collection of modern cards.
Currently, the black refractor version of the #517 card is the most valuable. Try finding one for sale anywhere at the moment and you will struggle. I think the price for this card is only going to increase.
Although it is important to note that no gold refractor versions have hit the market yet according to sportscardspro.com.
The front of the card pictures Tatis Jr. posing with a bat. Holding it with his right hand and resting it against his right shoulder.
The back of the card also showcases the 1970 Topps design with a bright yellow and dark blue background. Listing Tatis Jr.’s bio, draft information, and minor league stats.
The top right of the card’s back contains a fun fact about him, next to a caricature of a cartoon baseball player. Another hallmark of the 1970 Topps baseball set.
3. 2016 Topps Bowman Chrome Prospect Autograph #CPA-FT

While Fernando Tatis Jr. has many great baseball cards. The 2016 Bowman Chrome Prospect Autograph card is considered by many to be at the top of the list.
One of the earliest Tatis Jr. cards in existence. It still features him in his White Sox jersey before he was traded to the Padres organization.
The design and layout of the card are simply pristine, with a photo of Tatis Jr. holding a bat on the card’s front. Also on the card’s front is the White Sox logo. Located on the bottom left, with Tatis Jr.’s name centered at the bottom and his fielding position listed on the bottom right.
“1st Bowman” is listed in the upper left of the card while “Chrome” is listed in the upper right.
No stats are contained on the back of the card since Tatis Jr. hadn’t played in any professional games at the time the card was printed. The back of the card lists different player skills and bio data. Along with other miscellaneous information. All organized in an efficient and easy-to-read format so characteristic of Topps baseball cards.
2. 2018 Panini Kaboom! #K-FT

Debuting in 2018, the Panini Kaboom card set was a limited-edition specialty card set. Employing a cartoonish, comic-book design style in all its cards.
The series was so successful, that additional Kaboom sets were issued in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The Kaboom cards aren’t everyones thing but personally I am a huge fan.
Both the front and back of the card picture Tatis Jr. in a cartoon caricature format. Which is a nice change from many of the traditional in-game photos that categorize the majority of most sports cards.
The background of the card’s front is comprised of a shiny, silvery background with star-shape outlines. While the word Kaboom is written on the front and back of the card in a bolded, thick-style font.
Although some may consider this a rookie card, since Tatis Jr. still hadn’t reached the majors by the time it was printed. It is probably most accurate to just consider this card an early, specialty prospect card.
1. 2016 Topps Bowman Chrome Prospect Auto Gold Refractor #BCP17

Yes, the price listed for the gold refractor version of the Topps Bowman Chrome Prospect Autograph card is correct.
This card is not only the crown jewel of all Fernando Tatis Jr. baseball cards in existence. But also is probably the most valuable set-issued memorabilia item that a collector can purchase featuring Tatis Jr.
The card contains the same basic design and information as the base version. With the only observable difference being the gorgeous gold border located on the front of the card.
PSAcard.com currently lists the PSA 10 value of this card at $60,000 and the PSA 9 value at $30,000. But the actual current selling prices of some high-end Tatis Jr. cards have been a little lower as of late.
However, if Tatis can return to form after his lengthy absence in 2022. This card could eventually reach 6-figures in PSA 10 condition. Especially given the limited population of only 50 cards.

Autographed, game-used black cleats from Tatis Jr.’s rookie season make a terrific addition to any high-end collection, selling for $5,447.99. While another pair of game-used autographed cleats, these with a much more artistic, gold design retail for $8,179.99.
Several autographed bats retail for $499.99. While a pair of game-used gloves are currently selling for $2,719.99.
While many autographed pictures are also available. The 8″ by 10″ dual autographed photo of both Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado jumping in the air in celebration is a great buy at $208.99.
When I was just starting out with my card collection, I had lots of questions about authenticity, trading, and card conditions. But with not that much information available online, I felt quite alone in my queries. Some questions still haven’t been answered to this day.
