Whilst he isn’t named on the front, it is still classed as a Dale Earnhardt card.
It is a debut for MAXX which helped push racing cards into the mainstream as something to collect.
His set included mainly his cars, rather than him. However, this card features Earnhardt standing beside his team.
1988 MAXX Charlotte Dale Earnhardt #99
Whilst this card was never openly released, it had been printed ready to be put into the open world.
However, MAXX and Earnhardt never came to an agreement, so it wasn’t released.
It is one of the more popular cards among collectors, but along that comes many fakes too.
The fakes spell his hometown wrong. It should be Kannapolis, not Kannapolis.
Whilst MAXX did release this card in redemption in the year 1994, it included a gold star which is meant to be a serial number.
Also, in 1997, there were 100 autograph buybacks by Upper Deck. Each one is highly collectible and numbered.
1989 MAXX Dale Earnhardt #3
Known as his rookie card to the majority, it has the exact same image included on the card as the 1988 #99.
However, it has a different border color and pattern.
It has a truly late eighties, early 90s vibe about it.
1992 Traks Autograph Dale Earnhardt And Richard Petty #A1
This was the first Dale Earnhardt card with an autograph. It also includes another racing legend, Richard Petty.
